OPAL crosses Autobahn A4
Wisldruff. The construction of the OPAL natural gas pipeline is making good progress. More than 280 kilometers of the 470-kilometer-long pipeline have now been laid. This week the companies started crossing the Autobahn A4 near Wilsdruff (Saxony). The pipeline is being laid 3 meters under the road – without disrupting the traffic. The pipeline is pushed about 80 meters through the earth under the Autobahn with a method known as pipe jacking. The work is expected to be completed in 2 weeks.
