Pipeline construction

This is how a pipeline emerges and “disappears” again.

How are the pipelines laid?

The building contractors don’t just take account of ecological aspects during the planning stage, these factors are also important during the construction and operation of the pipeline. In addition, all the national laws on environmental protection and safety as well as the company’s own recognized high standards are upheld.
Any interference with the natural surroundings and the countryside is kept to a minimum for the sake of environmental protection. The construction work is accompanied throughout the entire project cycle, from the preparation of the construction work to the restoration and recultivation of the working strip, by ecological monitoring. This makes sure that the construction solutions applied during the practical implementation of the project are compatible with the landscape and environment. The contractor WINGAS can draw on decades of experience and competence in the construction of long-distance pipelines and works in partnership with the farmers’ associations concerned.

What does the route look like once the pipeline has been laid?

Natural gas pipelines are laid underground. Hence they do not have a negative visual impact on the landscape; nor do they prevent the land from being used for agriculture. The land can be used again for farming or re-integrated into the countryside. Trees may also be planted at a distance of 2.5 meters from the outer edge of the pipeline.
